DESCRIZIONE ESPERIENZA

With this trek we are going to discover an ancient valley full of charm and trails to explore.

This itinerary takes us to discover a little touristy but very important area on the orographic left of the Dora Baltea River. We will start walking from the small mountain hamlet of Trovinasse, in the municipality of Settimo Vittone. We will reach two important hills and cross an area rich in history as an interval communication route between the provinces of Aosta, Biella and Turin. The highest and most scenic point of the hike is the Colma di Mombarone, 2,371 m., from which, on a clear day, you can admire a 360-degree panorama, from Monte Rosa to the Turin hills.

Historical event: 1893, Pope Leo XIII had the task of closing a century and inaugurating a new one. His task was welcomed by Count Giovanni Acquaderni. His volcanic mind proposed that the Pope place 19 statues on 19 symbolic peaks of the Alps, as many as were the centuries of Christian redemption, and the Pope enthusiastically agreed. The 19-meter-high statue on Mombarone was built with funds raised through the faithful and was blessed on September 23, 1900. It was the first statue to be installed among those planned in theproject.
